Called the doctors office today and the pathology report shows no more cancer. They got it all! Yippee, hallelujah ... thought you'd like an update!
My next appointment is Wednesday where I go for a check with the surgeon and then I guess we will talk about setting things up with the oncologist for 6 weeks of radiation. We're on the home stretch. Thank you Jesus and thank you friends for your love, support, prayers and calls. It all means so very much to us during this time ... you are special.

The Healing Begins
We are hearing from so many of you and it means so much ... thank you for your prayers, the flowers, the meals, the concern, the cards....
The surgery is over and from sight they think I am cancer free. We should know on Friday after calling pathology if that is true and of course we are believing for the best. With all of your prayers how can it be anything else.
The pain is slowly lessening and my good looking home health guy is taking good care of me. Bringing me things, helping me on and off with my sweater, helping me in and out of bed, cooking! All is going well. I would ask that some of those prayers you are praying for me you could direct his way, he can't seem to kick the cough and possible bronchitis that he's had since before Christmas. With having to get up through the night to give me pain pills, etc. he is not sleeping well and I know this is not good for his recovery.
Again, thanks so much for your faithful support through this for us. You are loved.

One More Day
I have a long list of things I want to get done today. But then again I shouldn't have to do anything right ... yeah right!
Starting to feel a little bit of apprehension. Not fear or worry but just wanting to make sure all of you are praying for me. I know you are and I know that is why I have been so calm and of course God's peace and comfort have been so real. How do people do it without Him? Actually that's the thought I will leave off with because I do know He is with me and I do know that you are praying and that we have a BIG God and GREAT friends that care. THANK YOU.

Mood Swing!
Not sure what kind of mood I'm in today! Got some things done but then I didn't feel like doing anything! Ken says that's OK. But I didn't think I would remind him that that's all I will be doing for a week or two.
I am not afraid or worried. I know that God has everything under control. I just don't really want to deal with Tuesday. Hope to get some things done tomorrow so I can feel like I can relax and not feel anxious about anything undone.
Thank you for all your prayers in regard to my surgery and the cancer. I really appreciate all the calls and emails. You are special...

Getting Things Done
Today I am in a "getting things done" mode. I feel like I have to have everything done before I go for surgery on Tuesday. I don't know how I will feel on Wednesday so I don't want to have things left undone and feel like I need to do things!
Hey, that's how I feel even when I'm not having surgery. Actually I just want to skip Tuesday and be done with all of this, but of course, that's not an option. Too bad.
You can kind of see how my minds working. I'm not fearful but I am ready to get on with life and have this "interruption" behind us.

God is Good - All the Time
I have an appointment today for the pre-surgery and I realize that as I have been telling people I really am not worried about the upcoming surgery. I know that God has everything under control and I am in His hands. I am just ready to have this all behind me. Let's get on with life and move on ... let's do what we have to do and keep doing life. I'm sure that this is getting in the way of something I should be doing! I'll keep you posted.
Here was a nice comment a good friend made regarding my last post:
C is for Cured, which is what you will be.

C's in This Christmas
There were a lot of C's in this Christmas.
C is for the Christ Child. This of course is the most important C of all. We remember the importance of this season ... the fact that Christ came to save the world and keep us from the punishment that we all deserve. Jesus Christ is the reason for the season.
C is for cousins. Mine came from Arizona to spend the holidays with us. We had a wonderful time, laughing, visiting, eating too much and just having a great time together.
C is for cats. We still have two this Christmas and had to keep the two apart for the holiday.
C is for customs and traditions. We celebrated many with my cousins here.
C is for calls from our "adopted" kids, other family and friends greeting us with holiday good wishes.
C is for chocolate. Yummy. We have lots and are still eating it!
C is for cruise which Ken gave me by way of a Christmas gift certificate to go anywhere I want to go.
C is for cancer. Not a "C" word I wanted this year. But, one God decided I could handle. I pray I can deal with it with courage, faith, and strength and be what I need to be and do what I need to, to get through this time ahead.
As we move forward into this new year I wish you times of caring, comfort and the love of family and good friends. May you feel God's love and peace as you do His will and live the life He has destined for you.
Deuteronomy 31:6 (New International Version):
"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid ... for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."

Our Christmas Letter 2008
As sent in snail mail.
MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY HOLIDAYS
2008
This time of year causes us to reflect on the many of you we’ve not seen for a while. Wish we could sit down and visit. This letter will have to suffice for now. Maybe next year . . .
Ken continues to keep busy though I am slowing down some, staying closer to home, taking Mom to weekly hair appointments, doctor appointments, and other things that need doing. She took a fall in January and had to have a pacemaker put in. But she is doing well … yet missing Daddy.
I once again did taxes for the elderly and started bookkeeping for a beautician—thus my varied hair colors throughout the year!
Through the publishing company we work with Ken and I completed two book projects and Ken finally completed his own book “Theology in a Nutshell.” So we kept busy in this area, with several projects in the hopper, and Ken spoke at a Writers’ Conference in Kansas in April with my attending as his muse!
We had Garage Sale #2 in May and #3 in October for Mom and Dad’s house and I think we are finally done with those!
In May Ken attended the Evangelical Press Association in Oregon and won another EPA award, for “10 Billion Crosses.” He went fishing in Texas with good friend Carl Miller and we celebrated our 35th Wedding Anniversary.
July brought Ken double surgery and Peggy went to York, Pennsylvania for a Convoy of Hope. Peggy and her Mom went to Oregon for the annual Samples Family Reunion. Mom visited with Don & Rita while Peggy got in some rafting on the Rogue River and visited with friends.
In September Peggy participated in Hurricane Gustav relief efforts, driving the dually truck down and the RV back up. Ken took leadership of Today’s Pentecostal Evangel. We suffered a loss with the death of a dear friend, TPE staff and Onward Books, Inc. designer, Matt Key.
In Ken’s walking along the Wilson Creek trail he had added a new member to our family whom we have been trying to give away! See picture below. She’s still with us!!
In October we enjoyed the Branson Media Tour visiting many of the shows in Branson, Silver Dollar City, Titantic, the Oak Ridge Boys and more.
In November Ken went to Tennessee for the International Pentecostal Press Association Board meeting for which he is president. The bad part of November is Ken had a torn retina and had to have eye surgery. Very painful and his vision has not yet improved.
In December we visited Trinity Bible College in Ellendale, North Dakota where Ken spoke at commencement and we half froze to death. We enjoyed friends in our home at a Holiday Open House and then the year is ending with cousins Melba and Dick Callender from Arizona spending Christmas with us in Springfield.
As we look back we realize it has been a good year. God has been good, faithful, and has blessed us with many things—the richest being faith, family, and friends. May you be blessed with these gifts at Christmas and all year through. Merry Christmas.

The Beginning of the End

Many of you know we rescued a kitten from our walking trail some time back. Well last night we decided to try and keep the kitten overnight and see how it would go! Bad idea! First we were up till way past midnight, then we were awakened around 3 a.m. Now I just broke up a cat fight! Needless to say, we won't be able to integrate the new kitten into our home. I think that Perky (our cat) would have accepted the new kitten Gus, named after the Hurricane I was at when Ken first found her, but Gus is aggressive and runs at Perky hissing and spitting. Not nice! So now whenever they come near one another there is a hissing and spitting and growling competition.
Anyone interested in a cute kitten? Free to a good home. She's house broken and has had her shots!

Sarah Palin Rally in Springfield, MO
Yesterday we fought the mobs, braved the cold and the wind to attend the Rally which was held at the Bass Pro Shop here in Springfield for Sarah Palin. Sarah's guests included Naomi Judd and Pierce Arrow. Also Congressman Roy Blunt, who we had attended a reception for Thursday night, spoke.
I have included some of the photos Ken took here:
