MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY HOLIDAYS
2008
This time of year causes us to reflect on the many of you we’ve not seen for a while. Wish we could sit down and visit. This letter will have to suffice for now. Maybe next year . . .
Ken continues to keep busy though I am slowing down some, staying closer to home, taking Mom to weekly hair appointments, doctor appointments, and other things that need doing. She took a fall in January and had to have a pacemaker put in. But she is doing well … yet missing Daddy.
I once again did taxes for the elderly and started bookkeeping for a beautician—thus my varied hair colors throughout the year!
Through the publishing company we work with Ken and I completed two book projects and Ken finally completed his own book “Theology in a Nutshell.” So we kept busy in this area, with several projects in the hopper, and Ken spoke at a Writers’ Conference in Kansas in April with my attending as his muse!
We had Garage Sale #2 in May and #3 in October for Mom and Dad’s house and I think we are finally done with those!
In May Ken attended the Evangelical Press Association in Oregon and won another EPA award, for “10 Billion Crosses.” He went fishing in Texas with good friend Carl Miller and we celebrated our 35th Wedding Anniversary.
July brought Ken double surgery and Peggy went to York, Pennsylvania for a Convoy of Hope. Peggy and her Mom went to Oregon for the annual Samples Family Reunion. Mom visited with Don & Rita while Peggy got in some rafting on the Rogue River and visited with friends.
In September Peggy participated in Hurricane Gustav relief efforts, driving the dually truck down and the RV back up. Ken took leadership of Today’s Pentecostal Evangel. We suffered a loss with the death of a dear friend, TPE staff and Onward Books, Inc. designer, Matt Key.
In Ken’s walking along the Wilson Creek trail he had added a new member to our family whom we have been trying to give away! See picture below. She’s still with us!!
In October we enjoyed the Branson Media Tour visiting many of the shows in Branson, Silver Dollar City, Titantic, the Oak Ridge Boys and more.
In November Ken went to Tennessee for the International Pentecostal Press Association Board meeting for which he is president. The bad part of November is Ken had a torn retina and had to have eye surgery. Very painful and his vision has not yet improved.
In December we visited Trinity Bible College in Ellendale, North Dakota where Ken spoke at commencement and we half froze to death. We enjoyed friends in our home at a Holiday Open House and then the year is ending with cousins Melba and Dick Callender from Arizona spending Christmas with us in Springfield.
As we look back we realize it has been a good year. God has been good, faithful, and has blessed us with many things—the richest being faith, family, and friends. May you be blessed with these gifts at Christmas and all year through. Merry Christmas.
